Why the HAPPY DIET Works

April 18th, 2010 by pacapao

Understanding why and how the happy diet works.

There is a simple explanation and that being is you get to choose what you want to eat. Most diets today prove to be very stressful for many men and women in their quest to lose weight. This is because they are following instructions from others on what they should and should not be eating. How do these people know? What tickles your fancy?

Discover how the happy diet can work for you, what is the happy diet you ask. It is a diet carefully devised by youself with all the things that you like to eat. You get to choose your own meats fresh fruit and vegetables

Diets definitely work if you adhere to all the rules, break them then no results. Now let us get cracking on a diet that makes sense and guaranteed to put a smile on your face

Just imagine your own diet with all the juicy ingredients and succulent meats that suit your palette

Always consult a doctor if you are thinking about dieting or exercising as we individuals all differ in many ways.

A little research on daily intake of carbohydrate protein and fat is an important factor when devising your own diet. I suggest you browse magazines or approach slimming informational centres to find out about your chosen foods.

Find a list of all the foods that you know you are going to enjoy using in your recipes and that are good for helping you to shed those excess pounds. Then narrow it down to the ones that you want to have on your menu.

This part of the happy diet can prove to be very educational and fun to say the least. People accept diets and all the ingredients. This way you get to delve more intimately into the choices you have made for your own personal plan.

After checking all the important factors as in i.e. consulting the doctor and daily intake of fats etc. we are now ready for the physical side of things. A few ideas to help speed up the process (exercise) try dancing round the kitchen table with the kids they make think you are mad but who cares you are on a mission to find the new you.

Spring clean not once a week maybe twice. This will help hurry things along and into the bargain a cleaner house. Remember this is your plan so do it when it suits you. Results will only come if you stick to what you started out to do.

Walking a great form of exercise, why not consider salsa lessons it all helps. Do not expect results over night

For starters (Excuse the pun) throw out the frying pan.

Less grease on the plate to lose weight

Grilling with out a doubt is a far healthier and tastier option.

Cut down (YES) cut out (NO) you can still nibble on little goodies. Just cut down? Watch where others go wrong, most diets of course will not work if the rules are broken. Now why would you want to break the rules on the happy diet when all that is on the menu was chosen by you?

(It makes sense)

Consulting a dietician is a good idea for information. Joining a book club may also prove to be priceless in your quest. Make your own recipes to suit your own taste buds.

Advice For A Happy Marriage – 5 Guidelines To Happiness

April 16th, 2010 by pacapao

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Some people may think that advice for a happy marriage can be a bit obvious, but if that’s the case why are there so many unhappy marriages? It can be very hard to focus on the big picture when you are on the inside of a long term relationship, so hopefully these tips can rejuvenate your marriage.

Tip 1-

Forget about the “B” word. For some reason when you are in a long term relationship or marriage, it sometimes feels like the most important thing in a disagreement or argument is blame. Advice for a happy marriage suggest that blame is never good. You know when you miss your favourite TV show or burn the dinner? What’s the first thing in people’s minds? Quite often that first thing is blame, and that’s not a good thing. Think about it for a second-what does blaming your partner achieve? If they are at fault for whatever reason, they probably already know and could do without you pointing it out to them. This is not good for their self esteem, or your relationship.

Tip 2-

Become an “electrician”. This may seem like an odd analogy, but relationships are often like complex electrical circuits-the problems inside them are due to connections not being made or old connections breaking down-so this means you need to fix those connections in order to get things working again. If you want some advice for a happy marriage, when things start to break down in your relationship, sit down and think it through, make notes of what you think is wrong and why, and you will often be able to see where the problems are arising-which connections have broken down. And once you can see the problems, you can usually understand how to go about fixing them.

Tip 3-

Be a “creator”. Does your life just unfold however it wants or do you take charge of it, forcing things to develop in a way you like? If you let it unfold however it likes, the chances are your relationship is lacking attention in a similar way. If you consciously decide that your relationship will be successful, you are much more likely to work at it. And marriages do need work, in order to stay healthy – virtually all advice for a happy marriage guides agree on this. Have you ever noticed how some people just have great lives and relationships all the time? It’s because they work at it-they “create” their own reality by working toward the things they want to achieve, including successful loving marriages. This is not only great advice for a happy marriage, but good general advice for getting what you want from life.

Tip 4-

Advice for a happy marriage 101 -understand that marriage is an ongoing process, not a finished product.. To many people, advice for a happy marriage simply includes a nice cake and a white dress for the wedding, but that’s simply the beginning of the journey. The sooner you realise that it’s an ongoing situation, then the sooner you will be able to start laying foundations for a happy marriage for years to come.

Tip 5-

Never make fun of your spouse to another person-no matter who it is. Remarks like this, however harmless they may seem, have a way of becoming habit. And worse, what would your poor partner think if they knew they were the butt of your jokes when they weren’t around. It’s humiliating to say the least, and any advice for a happy marriage guide or book will tell you to refrain from this. Aside from all that, it’s just plain rude!

This advice for a good marriage can really help in the tough times, so I hope it helps you if you need it. Check out the links below for great info on fixing your marriage.

How to Be Happy With Yourself in Five Easy Steps

April 15th, 2010 by pacapao

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Often the really attractive and likable people we meet aren’t the most physically beautiful, the most intelligent, or the most artistic, but simply those that are the happiest with themselves. Discovering how to be happy with yourself is the first step to becoming a relaxed, confident and interesting person that will be as attractive to other people as you are to yourself. Here are five easy steps that show you how to be happy with yourself:

1. Look to the future not the past

Perhaps you have done something in the past that you’re not proud of, or maybe you feel that life has dealt you a poor hand. If only you could go back and do things differently.

Well the bad news is that you can’t go back, but the good news is that letting go of the past and accepting what has happened is the best way to move on and allow yourself to look forward to a fulfilling future. Realizing you cannot change the past is the first step in discovering how to be happy with yourself.

2. Stop criticizing other people

Looking for faults and failures in others is usually only a way of covering up our own insecurities. All too often we criticize others for things that we know we do ourselves. Try to stop judging other people and concentrate on living your own life in the best way you can; you will quickly find that you feel better about yourself as well.

3. Do something for another person

Take the focus off yourself for a while by doing something positive for another person. Maybe you just offer to walk someone’s dog when you know they don’t have time, or maybe you go the whole hog and volunteer at a homeless shelter or retirement home.

Whatever you choose to do, it will stop you dwelling on yourself, and when you do get chance to reflect you will find you’re much happier with the person you have become. Doing a good deed for someone else is truly something you can be proud of.

4. Know your strengths

Everybody has something that they’re good at whether it’s as simple as cooking, gardening, or playing with the kids, or as complex as fine art, music or business. Identify the things you’re good at and make them a part of your routine. Do something that you do well at least once a week and take time to feel proud about what you have done. Acknowledging your achievements, however small you think they are, is a very positive step in how to be happy with yourself.

5. Do things that make you smile

Spending your life working hard and caring for your family is very honorable, but unless you take time out to do things that make you happy, you will never really learn to value yourself. Schedule time to indulge your hobbies, whether that’s playing golf, taking long walks, watching classic films, going dancing, or supporting your local baseball team.

Having a hobby or interest that you enjoy will make you a more interesting and fulfilled person as well as helping you to meet like minded people. Taking time out to do things you like to do is the final step in how to be happy with yourself.

Top 10 Secrets for Being HAPPY!

April 14th, 2010 by pacapao

Image : http://www.flickr.com

One of my favorite songs is Bobby McFerrin’s refrain, “Don’t Worry, Be Happy“. I recently had the opportunity to observe people’s reactions when a highway was closed because of an accident ahead. As we waited, I watched as some listened to radios, a few began tossing a Frisbee, other’s seemed to be working or reading, and some opted for a quick nap. But, there were also a handful who were clearly agitated and angry. Pacing about, swearing, and upset, they decided that the best response to this event, which none of us could control, was to be very unhappy. I was reminded of Abraham Lincoln’s comment that, “Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.” The following are my Top 10 Tips to increase happiness in your life:

1. Decide to be a happy person. As Lincoln observed, most people, most of the time, can choose how stressed or happy, how troubled or relaxed they want to be. Choose to be happy.

2. Watch and Read less news. As a recovering news addict, I know this can be difficult because the stock market fluctuates, politicians politic, and sports teams compete. But, most of the time, you don’t need the stress. So, just don’t watch. I think it was Henry Thoreau who noted that if you’ve ever read about a train wreck, you understand the principle and don’t need to know any more about it.

3. Practice the Attitude of Gratitude. We all have so much to be grateful for. Just thanking the many people who assist us, encourage us, teach us and open doors for us could take all day!

4. Take Time. My dog has taught me much about loyalty, about noticing the sights, sounds, and smells in the yard, about being relaxed and about play. Eat when you’re hungry, nap when you need it. Get your ears scratched whenever possible!

5. Laugh everyday. Hear a joke, tell a joke, laugh at yourself, laugh with your friends and family and co-workers. There are very few medicines as powerful as laughter, and I don’t think you can over-dose, although it is addicting!

6. Love well. Express your affection, appreciation, friendship and warmth to those around you, and they will almost always respond in the most amazing ways! Be generous…it pays great dividends!

7. Work hard. This one comes as a bit of a surprise, but there is tremendous satisfaction in being competent, and joy in completing our assigned tasks. One of the great sources of happiness is to do work that is worthy of you, and to do it well.

8. Learn something new, everyday. To be happy, most of us must also be growing, expanding, learning and challenging ourselves. Read, listen, adapt and stretch to accommodate new ideas and new information.

9. Use your body as it was designed. Walk and run, stretch, throw things, and lift things. Dance! Exercise is good, but so is making love, mixing up a batch of cookies, or exchanging backrubs. You have a body and it can be either a source of joy, or a source of aches and pains. Your choice.

10: Avoid toxins. I prefer writing positives (things to do) rather than negatives (things to fear), but reality says there are negative people and there are bad chemicals, stressful noises, and unsafe places. Don’t go there! Avoid poisons whenever possible. It seems to work out better that way.

Peace is the Cornerstone of a Happy Soul

April 13th, 2010 by pacapao

Image : http://www.flickr.com

If peace is the cornerstone of a happy soul, why is it so difficult for people to live that way? On many levels, you should be looking to simplify your life to incorporate the values to make this normal. Your physical existence should not be overcome by anxiety and the insecurities that other people can place on you.

Likewise, it is vital for you to recognize when you are doing the same thing to yourself. Be strong and recalibrate to become the person you want to be. Live life knowing that you are worth something. No one, regardless of their sometimes trying past, is unworthy of being loved to the core. This is God and Spirit’s way of telling you that you are individually just as important as you are as a collective whole.

Try not to be co-dependent towards the people and activities that can easily absorb you. Embrace the strength of God and Spirit. Let us be your guiding force to happy days. Let yourself be open to embracing the words and wisdom from the many people who are available to make your life seem warm and friendly. There is never a justifiable cause to be alone, to feel alone. It is by being open and honest with angels on earth, as well as angels in heaven that they will be the senders of peace and love to you.

The world was designed to be a place of beauty and tranquility. It was created with the objective that all people would abide by the laws and practices of the Creator. In other words, the intent of the content would be an outcome of living in a vibration of peace. We ask you, are you doing your part to make the world a place where you can feel personally blessed? All we want is for you to understand that you are always looked at as someone who makes a difference. So, make sure you make a difference in your own life and trust the wisdom that is given to you.

As long as you are doing that, then the resurrection of all things that portend goodness, love and Light is built. Brick upon brick, one piece at a time, you can conquer the infinite power of serenity. It will then become the paragon of joy and a world filled with the beauty that every persons soul houses. These are The Spoken Words of Spirit.

Happy 365 – 7 Step System to a Juicy Intimate Relationship

April 11th, 2010 by pacapao

Image : http://www.flickr.com

We all struggle in our relationships. Work, stress and responsibilities always seem to get in the way of allowing us to have the great intimate relationship that we thought we would have when we started our journey together. Now, the Happy 365 – 7 Step System To A Juicy Intimate Relationship, is a way for you and your partner to stay connected no matter what, all the time. It is considered to be one of the best in its field because it is written by a couple who have been through all kinds of challenges and still managed to not only stay together, but become happy with one another once again.

The inability to have an intimate relationship with your partner can cause you to feel disconnected and struggle with the rest of your relationship, so if you can bring back the intimacy, you might be able to restore your feelings and happiness with one another. Cary and Wendy Valentine have created a system to help you and your partner get back to being intimate with each other on the deepest levels.

The Happy 365 program offers step by step exercises on how to “complete and delete” the pain and hurt that might be into the past so that you can move on to a deeper level of intimacy and happiness as a couple. You’ll likely find that the exercises teach good ways to communicate with one another that actually work and how to convey your caring for each other in ways that make the biggest difference.

The 7 Step System to a Juicy Intimate Relationship takes couples by the hand and gives them the tools to get past fear, self-doubt, insecurities and worries through the act of turning “your doubt inside out”. You will be taught that your fears are good for you and can teach you about your potential for unconditional love. You will also be taught as a couple to be glad for the challenges you face, and stay committed to your relationship throughout them.

Whether you’re on the verge of divorce, you’ve had bad experiences in the past or are looking for the perfect partner, the Happy 365 program can help you and guide you to a wonderfully intimate relationship and life with your partner.

While writing the program, the Valentines hid themselves away in the Idaho desert to see what would work to bring them back together. They questioned their every thought and struggled to find out how to ease their pain. Over time, the system materialized right in front of them and they “discovered” what is called “the Map of Choice,” which is the cornerstone for the whole program. It can show you how to stop the bad patterns and set you on the road to your blissfully new intimate relationship.

You might find that this system works for you, with founding principals for a man to make his woman happy and keep her feeling strong and beautiful on the inside and out. You’ll get real life stories that will make you feel in control of your intimate relationship and help you to build the life you’ve been waiting for.

Happy 365 – 7 Step System to a Juicy Intimate Relationship is a life changing experience. If you are looking for a full relationship transformation, then this might be just what you and your partner need.

Mary Miller teaches through listening to others and through her own experiences to help you achieve a healthy intimate relationship. For more information on the ‘Happy 365 System’ and how to achieve a juicy intimate relationship, visit ‘Happy Together Forever’ http://happytogetherforever.com/category/reviews/happy-365/

Keep Your Brain Alive and Happy For Life!

April 8th, 2010 by pacapao

Image : http://www.flickr.com

These days, practically every pill, product, and procedure has been invented to maintain and enhance your body’s health. But are you forgetting perhaps the single most important organ of all – the brain? Keep your brain alive and happy if you want the rest of your body to remain in good shape as well. To keep your brain alive and happy, treat it the way you ideally would the rest of your body; that is, eat right, get enough sleep, and get sufficient exercise.

Food for the Brain

Unless you’re allergic, you can never go wrong with fish. Fish is the ultimate food for proper brain development. It is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, and DHA (or docosahexaenoic acid), which is believed to keep dementia at bay.

Not only do you build healthy brain cells when you consume omega-3s, but you also ensure that their foundation is strong and that they have a better chance of withstanding the test of time.

Hit the Sack

According to Sean Drummond, of the University of California at San Diego, if you have been awake for 21 hours straight, your abilities are akin to those of a person who is legally drunk.

Depriving your brain of sleep can muddle memory capacity and cognitive function. Attention span becomes shorter and reaction time is delayed. So if you are looking for another excellent way to keep your brain alive and happy, get some shuteye.

Get Physical

When we think of brain exercises, we think puzzles, mazes, riddles, and the like. But if you want to add some actual physicality to your brain’s workout regimen and get those synapses ’sweating,’ try neurobics.

Neurobics is a system of mental exercises wherein you do something your brain does not expect, thereby forcing it to work harder. Deprive it of sight, for example. Wear a blindfold around the house for about an hour and rely on your other senses to move about. If you are right-handed, try writing or brushing your teeth with your left hand, or vice versa. By doing something your brain is unaccustomed to, you stimulate it and help build up its neurological structures by triggering more pathways that would have otherwise remained dormant during routine activity.

Get Physical Some More

Exercise your body as well. Physical activity promotes neurogenesis, or the growth of new brain cells. Plus, it gets your heart pumping, forcing more oxygen to the brain, thus giving your mental abilities a much-needed lift.

Your looks may have dodged the ravages of time, but it will all be for naught if your brain betrays your age. Follow these simple ways to keep your brain alive and happy so you’ll be able to think and feel as young as you look.

Satellite Direct TV Review – Honest and Objective

April 7th, 2010 by pacapao

Image : http://www.flickr.com

I am so happy to tell you about the Satellite Direct TV programme that I found on the internet. I have been paying so much money for my favorite channels that I just can’t believe I found this program for less than I paid each month with my dish company! I can get channels from all over the world and all I had to do was pay less than 50 bucks to get it. I don’t have any fees that I have to pay every month and the reception is awesome. You should read the Satellite Direct TV review to get a better understanding.

After I ordered my Satellite Direct TV they had someone tell me how to hook it up to my TV and that is the best thing that has ever happened for me! I love the idea of watching different sports channels from all over the world and it is so much fun! I can see news that is available from every part of the globe so I know I am always up with the latest important issues.

I have so many music channels I don’t even know what to do with myself. I love to watch music from other countries and it makes me feel like I can still learn new things all the time. If you ever wanted to see how people live on the other side of the world it’s easy, all I had to do was pay for the program, download and I was all set. There were no programming needs, no configuration changes and no box to wait for in the mail. If I had it to do all over again I would do it in a minute! Satellite Dish TV has never been offered at such low rates and I was just wondering how they did it, I can watch my share of movies all the time and I can do it all from the comfort of home with no extra fee packages just for watching them.

I am happy that I found the Satellite Direct TV review and decided to go for it as I was really thinking that paying so much for my dish was just getting too expensive! I like the idea that I can pay the one time fee and enjoy all the programming I want with no interruptions in service and no fee hike every few months. I’m glad I found it and I’m glad that it lived up to its promise. Thanks Satellite Direct TV I am very happy with the service.

Being Happy For Someone Else

April 6th, 2010 by pacapao

Image : http://www.flickr.com

An outstanding example of complete selflessness is Retired Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, a woman who not has had a brilliant career but has a huge heart and is an example of great love to us all.

Her husband, who lives at a Phoenix facility for people with Alzheimer’s, has found a new romance. He and the woman, referred to only as “Kay,” another patient, are “teenagers in love.”

“Mom was thrilled that dad was relaxed and happy and comfortable living here, and wasn’t complaining,” one of the O’Connors’ three sons, Scott, said on television. “For Mom to visit when he’s happy … visiting with his girlfriend, sitting on the porch swing holding hands,” was a relief after a long, painful period for him.

The whole nation stands, not only in awe of her love and compassion, but her courageous transparency in revealing the situation.

Why can’t we be happy for someone else?

Most of us live in a smaller world. We compare ourselves to other people and secretly resent their good luck. Why did it happen to them and not us?

One of our friends just inherited a substantial estate and has moved into an affluent neighborhood. They still want to maintain the friendship with us but something has changed. We feel uncomfortable when we visit their beautiful new home and then return to our modest surroundings.

Somehow we feel diminished. Why has the God of Good Fortune visited their family and not ours? We’ve lived a good life and worked hard also. Why them?

A friend, who is a widow, met a wonderful man on the Internet. He is a widower and was also lonely.

It occurred seemingly accidently and I happen to have a part in it. I encouraged her to put her profile on line. She resisted because she felt that “people would see it” and she would be embarrassed.

I convinced her that the only ones who would see it would be someone who was looking – so she reluctantly agreed to do it.

The widower found her because he was checking his email on Yahoo and noticed the Yahoo personals part of the site. He looked at it out of curiosity.

They are a couple now and very happy together.

But, her best friend of many years rejected him. She ended the relationship.

I can’t figure it out and neither can my friend. Why would she resent an old friend’s new happiness? Jealousy? Competition? Why?

What do we have to do so that we can rejoice for one another?

It seems to be tied into the value we put on ourselves which is determined by how we measure up to other people. That is our yardstick.

And yet, we know that money and prestige do not equal happiness. We have seen it every day in the news where rich celebrities have many more problems than we have. Most of us are not in trouble with the law or have had to go to rehab.

The everyday person, who is never featured in the news because we are just not “news,” is getting along. Somehow, our bills are getting paid. We are happy in our lives, thank you. We have nice surroundings, even if they are not luxurious. We cut our small lawns in the summer and shovel our snow in the winter and we are doing just fine. We may fight now and then with our spouses but there is also a lot of laughter in our kitchens.

It is time for us to come home. To ourselves. To be grateful for what we have. We can only sleep in one bed at a time. Eat one meal at a time. More bedrooms in a bigger house will not make for greater happiness.

More money or a new relationship will not make us feel more secure unless we are secure in ourselves.

Gratitude is the answer. To want and appreciate what we already have. To be pleased with the fact that we are enjoying good health. To treasure our families more and the love of our parents, children or spouses. To enjoy the holidays with them with the joy of being together. Not for the value of the gifts.

These are the blessings of our life. Not material things like an inheritance. Not a new relationship. The comforts and contentment we already have.

When we get to that state of mind, we realize that what we have is priceless. We already have everything. We still may want more – but we don’t need more.

Perhaps then we can move into an attitude like Sandra Day O’Connor. Being happy for someone we cherish. I am sure she looks at her husband of many years as a child who is content now. She is generous with her feelings toward another human being who bears little resemblance to the high-powered man she once knew as her husband, partner and the father of her children.

We can then be pleased with someone else’s good fortune and their happiness because we are sharing the same abundance.

When we focus on thankfulness for what we already have, we are happy with our life just as it is.

A published writer, but a “newbie” as a blogger. Loving it! When I tell you I did not know the difference between a webpage and a blog only a months ago, I would not be lying! Now I do and as they say in Brooklyn, where I originated, “Who knew?”

I picked personal growth as my topic because I not only have been a self help junkie for years but I had a TV show on national cable for eleven years and interviewed over 400 authors in that time. Including all the most famous ones you see on Oprah! Since book sales on numbering in the billions in the personal growth field, I thought there would be great interest in this niche. Also, because I am a lady of a “certain age,” I have been around the block a few times, made many mistakes and have achieved some success. I am hoping to share my good wisdom with my readers.
